A Little About Me

Stephen (steven) Foster

... as a drummer, I pride myself in being able to play all styles of music. This  has enabled me to be in a lot of situation. Therefore, I find myself working,  as a supportive sideman or leader,  playing Jazz, Latin, R&B, Blues, Fusion, Smooth or Be-Bop Jazz. 

In my years as aprofessional musician I have worked or recorded with such artists as; James Ingram, Gerald Albright, Roy Ayers, Ricky Minor (Tonight Show Band & American Idol), Jimmy McGriff, Phil Upchurch, Richard "Groove" Holmes, Dazz Band (Robert Harris), Wilton Felder, Arthur Adams, Ellis Hall, Billy Mitchell, Barbara Morrison, Rahmlee Michael Davis and Beloyd Taylor of Earth Wind & Fire, Sonny Stitt, Teddy Lee Hooker, Lou Donaldson, Neal Larson, Doug Carn, Lonnie Smith, Dianne Reeves, George Cables, Eric Kloss, Kenny Blake, Charles Earland, Ed Wing, Ronnie Foster, Grant Green, Kei Akagi, John Patton, Rodney Taylor, Johnny Lytle, Marlena Shaw, Gary Willis,  Rickey Woodard, to name a few....

My songwriting and production skills are featured on a CD produced for a band called Second Wind entitled "Secret of Forever" It was released on the Positone label and featured legendary guitarist Phil Upchurch, Rodney Taylor, Charles Love and singer songwriter Linda Lee. 

I have also been featured on  many of the JAZZ ZONE worldwide cable access TV show series hosted by Roscoe Lee Owens. (see www.jazzzone.net).  

I also was the Drummer for the long running hit Musical "Smokey Joe's Cafe" based on the songs of hit writing team Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller.
